Years later, when his enemy's family finds itself dependent on Terje's beneficence, Terje must decide whether to avenge himself. Based on a poem written by Henrik Ibsen and entirely on locations shooting at the Norwegian coast, the film claimed to be the most expensive production and marked the beginning of the Golden Age in the Nordic film history.

1983 剧情简介：1977年，张芸芸被分配到还是一大片红土荒丘的新星奶品筹建处，筹建处的负责人赵建新到车站迎接。路上，他发现这个有些娇气的上海姑娘竟然怕牛，她能当兽医吗？他嘲讽着要送她回去，但倔强的芸芸还是留下了，与大家一起在这片荒原上建起了初具规模的奶牛场，她也成了一名真正的兽医。在共同度过的艰苦日子里，她发现貌似粗暴的赵建新，有一颗金子般的心。这时，由于受到极左残余势力的影响，奶制品厂被迫下马。芸芸已恢复钢铁学院院长职务的父亲张远勋，寄来调令，急调女儿芸芸回上海。赵建新视她如"逃兵"，平时要好的战友也讽刺她。芸芸含泪离开了牧场。回沪后，芸芸被安排到钢铁学院外文资料室工作，她工作清闲，生活安逸，从前的同学姜如平对她体贴入微。父亲也希望她有这样一位如意的对象，但芸芸心里却是空荡荡的。姜如平为了证实自己的爱，把翻好的文章，署上芸芸的名字发表，招来了人们对芸芸的嘲讽。这使芸芸更深刻地感觉到失去了事业的痛苦。三中全会以后，新星奶品厂有了很大发展，悄悄爱上赵建新的丹莉，到上海运牛时与芸芸相逢。丹莉了解到芸芸的苦闷，告诉她即将出国的赵建新正在上海候机，动员芸芸去找他。芸芸在宾馆门口远远地看到赵建新，想到在最困难的时候自己离开了他，就没有勇气上前招呼了。后来迫于病中父亲的催促，姜如平的苦苦追求，她在极矛盾的心情中答应在父亲生日那天与姜明确关系。寿宴前，她知道了姜如平阻止了奶牛场的调令，愤而出走。父亲由于老伴的劝慰、赵建新的走访，开始理解了女儿的心情。他和老伴赶到外省招聘科技人员办事处，支持女儿报名应聘。芸芸又回到奶牛场了，丹莉和伙伴们正等待着她，畜牧事业的壮丽前景正召唤着她。
