【简 介】：国家地理频道电视电影（四小时迷你剧）《圣徒与陌生人》（Saints & Strangers）描述了美国的起源——1620年，35名追求宗教自由的英国宗教分裂分子（分离派清教徒）与14名契约奴隶、53名工匠 、渔民、贫苦农民、冒险客、罪犯坐上五月花号（Mayflower），从普文斯敦港启程前往北美大陆。经过66天的艰难航行，他们抵达了目的地。看到「新世界」（New World）的那一刻，五月花号上的所有人都如释重负。分离派清教徒相信他们在「新世界」能自由表达宗教信仰，并以此为基础创建新的社会秩序。但对这些刚刚闯过疾病、极恶与死亡挑战的旅行者来说，他们的旅程才刚刚开始——文化差异、气候问题、与土著居民的矛盾冲突、对信仰和意识形态的质疑，时时刻刻都在考验着他们的毅力和决心。但他们最终克服一切挑战建立起北美地区第一块殖民地，这就是日后人们所知的「美国」。
