故事发生于彗星撞地球之后，大地陷入了一片黑暗之中，气温下降，瘟疫横行，一切规则都不再适用于人类，社会还原为了弱肉强食的最原始的形态。一群恐怖分子袭击了一个车队，一位名叫克里斯汀（巴巴拉·克兰普顿 Barbara Crampton 饰）的女子成为了唯一的幸存者，克里斯汀身怀六甲并且有着非常特殊的身份——她体内被植入了能够治愈瘟疫的基因。
没过多久，恐怖分子首领雷（布赖恩·詹尼斯 Bryan Genesse 饰）就通过卫星系统锁定了克里斯汀的所在，对她展开了疯狂的迫害。幸运的是，克里斯汀得到了名叫罗兰德（盖瑞·丹尼尔斯 Gary Daniels 饰）的男子的出手相救，他是她已故丈夫的双胞胎弟弟。
